I love books that educate my kids, teach them a moral lesson, or prompt them to think seriously about an important issue, but I also thoroughly enjoy the ones that just make them smile.
Little Pea is definitely one of those books!
We came across this little jewel one day at the library and I thought it was the cutest thing. It immediately became one of my kids’ favorites. Granted, my children were smaller then, but just the other day my now 12-year old came across this book and immediately said, “Oh, I remember this one! This book is so funny!”
A lot of kids struggle to down their vegetables at the dinner table, and Little Pea can relate, though his problem is a little different: Little peas are instructed by their parents to eat candy, and only when they finish their candy can they have spinach for dessert. But what a trial it can be to a little pea to have to eat their candy!
My kids giggled all the way through this little book. While it’s simple story line and illustrations are perfect for preschoolers, the clever humor appeals to older kids as well. I loved this book for family reading, since it could interest and amuse a range of ages.
If you’re a mom like me, always in search of fun new books at your local library or book sale, be sure to add Little Pea to your Must Find list!
