Compass Classroom Spring Sale — Products up to 50% Off

Want to destroy a child’s love for learning?  Hand them a stack of textbooks and expect them to read and answer questions.  All. day. long.

I decided long ago that was not the approach to learning I wanted to take, and so I went in search of homeschooling materials that could offer my family a lot more.  I’ve discovered some very good products during my 10 years of homeschooling, and Compass Classroom is where I have found some of the best.

This week, April 3-10, is their big Spring Sale and their products are up to 50% off.  When I love these materials so much, how do I not share??

Trust me, I don’t tout products I don’t believe in.  While I need to give you a thorough review of each individual product from Compass Classroom I have used, (and there are several!) I can still give you a quick overview of my favorites, though I can truthfully say I have loved everything I’ve used.  And keep in mind you can check out FREE lessons of each of these before you decide to purchase…

Visual Latin

My daughter loved this!  We don’t take a classical approach to home education at all, but this Latin program for middle and high school kids was both fun and effective.  My daughter can still decipher a lot of Latin terms in books or engraved on old buildings.  (And my kids think Dwane Thomas is hilarious!)

Dave Raymond’s American History

The video lectures with Dave are fascinating enough, but the downloadable reader is chock full of related documents and readings from original source material.  And all of it is presented with a solid Christian worldview.

This is the best American history curriculum out there.  Seriously.  I’ve now used this with two high schoolers and American history has been a favorite with them both.

Dave Raymond’s Modernity

Dave teaches world history as well as he teaches American history!  This may have been my oldest daughter’s favorite subject in all of high school.  It explores world history from 1500 to modern times, includes a reader of related material, and presents it all from a profoundly Christian worldview.

Economics for Everybody

This course made sense of basic economics not only for my child, but for me! The videos were simple and actually made learning economics entertaining!  I consider this course a must-have for high schoolers.

Word Up: The Vocab Show

My kids loved this!  Dwane Thomas’ silly videos teach kids the Greek and Latin roots of hundreds of English words, which can be so helpful both with spelling and with understanding vocabulary.  We used this supplemental material over a year ago, but I plan to pull it out again in the year to come!

Word Up!

If you’re starting to pull together your curriculum for the next school year, check out Compass Classroom and take advantage of these sale prices while they last!

Isn’t it good? My kids love that one, and they learn from it without even realizing they’re learning…
